Wife to Papa Suga, Reginald, Mom to 8, Nomi (grandma) to 6! She didn’t think her job was done. A former educator who decided that diving into one of her favorite past times was a great way to escape the pandemic.

Like many of you,  she was quarantined to the island of home, so Tara decided to enjoy her patio space a little more than she had time to before. 

Tara and her husband recently purchased their forever home which yields over 9 acres, a porch, 2 patios, and an enlarged fire pit area.  Being a mom slowed her down from being able to decorate these spaces like she wanted.  Since the pandemic made everything abruptly stop, she thought it was time to decorate.  While looking for inspiration, she couldn’t seem to find girls that looked like her in the outdoor living spaces. Then the words of her mom came to memory, “If you can’t find what you are looking for, create it”. So that is what she did! 

Tara is the brainchild behind Black Women Who Love Outdoor Living Spaces TM. She started this group out of a pure passion to connect with patio friends that looked like her. She’s since grown this community to over 239k black women whose main goals are to love, inspire, empower and enjoy outdoor living spaces together.

Tara is a lover of patio life so it was only befitting that she created an outdoor living lifestyle brand, The Patio Chic, exclusively for people who understand that patio life is never seasonal. Now the influencer spends her days serving up tips, tricks, hacks, love and smiles on the patio.

Tara has always been a creative and an out of the box thinker. This movement has definitely made her proud!
